BINTULU: The cabin of a lorry laden with oil palm fruits, was damaged in a pre-dawn fire at Mile 9, Kampung Penan Muslim yesterday morning (Feb 7).

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the 3.21 am incident along Jalan Bintulu-Miri.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA) said firemen from Bintulu station were dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call.

Upon arrival, the team found that the lorry cabin was completely destroyed and the fire was extinguished using water sourced from the fire truck.

The fire was brought under control at 4 am and overhaul works were carried out to ensure that there is no risk of re-ignition.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred is still under investigation.
