As of Oct 31, 2022, around 1,060,811 hectares have been measured through the Native Customary Rights (NCR) land measurement programme initiative.
Second Minister of Natural Resources and Urban Development Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said approximately 813,587 hectares have already been gazetted as Reserves Bumiputera Communal (Agriculture) under Section 6 of the Land Code State.
He said the gazetting of the remaining areas that have been measured will be implemented continuously.
Awang Tengah said since 2017, the measurement focus has also been focused on measurement of individual lots under Section 18 of the State Land Code for areas that have been gazetted under Section 6 of the Land Code State based on the application and readiness of the applicants of the land.
“Until October 31, 2022, a total of 58,606 individual lots have been measured, involving an area of 74,181 hectares that have been and will be issued land title deeds under Section 18 of the State Land Code,” he said when delivering his winding-up speech in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) yesterday (Dec 1).
Awang Tengah stressed that the Sarawak government is committed to ensuring continuity for this initiative and will continue to provide the necessary funds in addition to funds received from the federal government.
On the Resettlement Scheme (SPS) and Village Expansion Scheme (SPK), he said as many as 58 SPK and SPS projects have been approved under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) and Projek Rakyat’s allocation as of Nov 30.
“This will provide as much as 5,910 residential lots with estimated implementation costs of RM858.5 million.
“Of the 58 projects, 12 projects have already been completed fully according to the scope of the development and the remaining 46 projects will be continued until the end of the 12MP,” he added.
He said currently, SPS and SPK projects which are being implemented, used the improved infrastructure specifications such as paved roads, concrete ditches and walled lots.
“The Sarawak government has also set a land premium payment not exceeding RM2,500 for each residential lot in SPS and SPK although the cost of preparing each lot is estimated around RM120,000 to RM150,000.
“This proves the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government always pays attention to the needs of the people,” he said.
