
SIMUNJAN: A septuagenarian died while two others sustained injuries after the car they were travelling in crashed into a tree near Kampung Sungai Ladong here, yesterday.
According to a spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), as soon as they learned about the accident, which happened at around 5.30pm, they promptly despatched firemen from Simunjan fire station to the scene.
When the rescue crew arrived, the 72-year-old passenger in the back seat, Fajar Kuley, had already been pulled out of the car by passersby and was unconscious.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, and her body was handed over to the police to be taken to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the driver and the front seat passenger, both male aged 29 and 33, were successfully extricated out of the vehicle by the rescuers.
It was reported that the 29-year-old fractured his legs while the 33-year-old suffered body injuries.
Both of them were rushed to Simunjan Hospital for further treatment.
