KUCHING: 100 students from schools around Sarawak here, received a school bag and stationery in a 2018 School Assistance Kits Contribution ceremony at State Library (PUSTAKA), yesterday thanks to Yayasan Ikhlas.

The partner and sponsor for the school bags was Affin Islamic Bank while the stationeries were sponsored by public contributions that have been collected at Plaza Merdeka and POPULAR Kuching.

Speaking during the event, Chairman of Yayasan Ikhlas, Dato Mohd Rosli Ramli said that students that received the contributions were students with background of poor family and with incomes below RM1000.

“They come from different story from selected schools, SMK Pending, SMK Taee and SMK Tun Abang Haji Openg,” he added. He also said that Yayasan Ikhlas aims only to help students in secondary schools except for certain cases because the Poor Students’ Provident Trust Fund (KWAPM) from Ministry of Education’s (MoE) was only for the students of Primary One to Form One.“Therefore, we focus only on poor students in Form 2 to Form 5 only.
