1,000 tengadak fry released in pond

KUCHING: A total of 1,000 tengadak fry donated by the Semenggok Inland Fisheries Centre, Department of Agriculture were released in the Sarawak Botanic Garden pond, on Friday.

According to news report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), the programme was a corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity planned by the Sarawak Government Servants Welfare and Sport Council (MAKSAK) Women’s Exco in conjunction with the 2022 MAKSAK Games National Tennis Championship here.

Meanwhile, North Kuching City Commission (DBKU) has been entrusted to manage the CSR programme and activities with a variety of interesting events.

“The purpose of organisng this CSR activity is to strengthen the friendship between Secretaries of MAKSAK in conjunction with the MAKSAK Games 2022 National Level Tennis tournament in Kuching.

“Besides involving in recreation, the Secretaries of MAKSAK can also learn and add knowledge about the history and uniqueness of Sarawak during the Mini Amazing Race activity,” UKAS said.

It also said that during the programme, a symbolic ceremony was also held for the tournament with the planting of 250 saplings near the Brooke Museum at Fort Margareta which had been supplied by DBKU.

Among the MAKSAK Secretary’s participation are from MAKSAK Malaysia, Sabah, Perak, PDRM, MSAT, Penang, Perlis, Prison, Pahang, Kelantan, Wilayah Persekutuan, Melaka, Terengganu, Labuan and Johor.
