10,553 from tabligh gathering have undergone test

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 10,553 attendees of the recent tabligh gathering at the Sri Petaling Mosque have been tested for Covid-19, according to Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

In a Facebook posting yesterday, he said as of midnight on March 19, a total of 4,986 samples have been taken and 513 were tested positive.

“One of the attendees, a 34-year-old man, died on Tuesday (March 17). The Ministry of Health urges other attendees who have not been tested to come forward,” he said.

Dr Noor Hisham also shared the Malaysian Covid-19 cluster case detection statistics involving the attendees of the Jord Qudama and Ulama Malaysia 2020 gathering, recorded as of 12am yesterday.

The statistics, released by the National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), among others, showed the number of patients admitted to hospitals at 659, while the number of those undergoing home surveillance stood at 6,627.

According to the statistics, 2,559 cases were tested negative, while 1,990 others were awaiting results. – Bernama
