MIRI: Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Kuala Suai in collaboration with Pertubuhan Kebajikan Rumpun Islam Sejagat Miri (Keris) has recently delivered food aid to 11 families affected by movement control order (MCO).

The extension of MCO has given huge impact on villagers who are mostly fishermen and farmers.

Melemas Plantation Sdn Bhd donated the food aid and handed it over to JKKK Kuala Suai secretary Yusoff Awg Kerta to be distributed to the families.

Two 4WD (four-wheel drive) vehicles with permission to travel by the authorities were deployed to transport the food aid to Kpg Kuala Suai, a journey of 7km going through palm oil plantation gravel road.

According to Keris founder Bidin Tahir, such charity work should be continued from time to time. Thus, he encouraged contributors who are in need of work force to do charity work to contact him directly.

At the same time, the JKKK Kuala Suai further thanked the donors, namely Samalaju assemblyman Majang Ranggi, Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) Bintulu/Sibuti branch, JKKK Kampung Iran, Ribuan Sawit Plantation and Melemas Plantation Sdn Bhd.

“We hope more palm oil companies operating near the area would come forward with donations to ease the burden of the local community,” a spokesperson to the JKKK Kuala Suai said.
