KUCHING: Police have issued 11 compounds to individuals in the state on Sunday (Aug 9) for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in public places.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said the police will continue to enforce the SOPs including the use of face masks and social distancing in public places.

“Kuching recorded the most compounds issued with five, followed by Padawan with two recipients.

“One compound each was issued to errant individuals in Betong, Sarikei and Limbang and Mukah.

“A man was arrested in a scrap metal shop in Kota Samarahan for failing to comply with the SOPs in the premises,” the statement read.

On the inter-zone travel restriction in Simunjan and Sri Aman, police recorded 1,054 vehicles that have passed between zones (1 and 2) from Aug 9 to 10.

Of the total, 1,036 of them have obtained travel permission and 18 were ordered to turn back due to not having a travel permission letter.

To date, 1,664 premises have been monitored throughout the state. They are restaurants (428), supermarkets (119), banks (102), public markets (86), places of worship (80), government offices (62), hawker stalls (50), leisure places (35), construction sites (12), factories (11) and others (679).

The committee also informed that 1,749 vehicles have been inspected in six Ops Benteng roadblocks in five districts — Lundu (two) and one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu.
