KUCHING: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Sarawak has conducted inspection on 11 premises in the state to date, with 45 items inspected.

This was in conjunction with the ministry’s implementation of price inspection on school uniforms nationwide from Dec 18 to Jan 3 next year.

KPDNHEP deputy director cum Sarawak chief enforcement officer Mohd Hanizam Kechek said the inspection targeted 10 items namely, baju kurung, short sleeve uniform, long sleeve uniform, kain baju kurung (secondary school), kain baju kurung (primary school), trousers (secondary school), trousers (primary school), tudung (shawl), shoes and socks.

“The inspection is important in order to prevent rising prices of school necessities and unreasonable high-profiteering activities,” he told reporters after conducting a round inspection in conjunction with the 2019 Christmas Holiday Price Scheme at Giant Tabuan Jaya here, yesterday.

So far, he mentioned that there were no complaints made regarding excessive or exorbitant prices.
