KUCHING: Police have ordered 110 motorists to turn back for not having valid inter-zone travel permits during the second day of the movement control order (MCO) 3.0 in Sarawak.

This brought the number of vehicles ordered to turn back since Saturday (May 29) to 225.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail said the police have received 1,031 travel permit applications on Sunday (May 30).

“Of the figure, 719 have been approved and the rest were rejected.

“Apart from that, 15,045 vehicles have been inspected on Sunday (May 30). This brought the number of vehicles inspected to 30,245,” he said.

Aidi added that 185 roadblocks have been set up throughout the state — 110 enhanced MCO roadblocks, 41 zone/district roadblocks, 28 active case detection roadblocks and six Ops Benteng roadblocks.

He also said the police have issued 42 compounds to errant individuals for violating the MCO standard operating procedures.

This brings the total amount of compounds issued during the MCO 3.0 period to 68.
