KUCHING: Police have issued a total of 114 compounds to individuals for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in public places.

“Kuching recorded the most with 105, followed by six in Padawan and one each in Samarahan, Betong and Sarikei,” said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

Five individuals — one manager, three staff and one Indonesian customer — were also arrested at an entertainment centre at Jalan Petanak here for not following the physical distancing rules.

The committee said police also inspected 1,513 premises throughout Sarawak for SOP compliance.

These included 301 restaurants, supermarkets (153), banks (109), public markets (70), places of worship (63), hawker stalls (26), government offices (40), leisure places (38), construction sites (21), factories (7) and others (685).

SDMC added that 2,138 vehicles were inspected in six Ops Benteng roadblocks in five districts — two in Lundu and one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman and Lubok Antu.
