
KUCHING: Some 120 golfers are expected to compete in the 3rd Malaysia Orang Ulu (MOUGA) golf tournament at Sarawak Golf Club (KGS) on Sept 8.
Its organising chairman Asan Odau in a press statement yesterday said the objective of the tournament is to promote a healthy lifestyle and unity among the Orang Ulu community in Sarawak through sports
“We will also invite another 30 golfers from other communities to join us during the tournament as this is in line with our aspiration to promote unity and respect among the various races in Sarawak through sports” he said.

He added that the event is to promote interest in golf among the Orang Ulu community and showcase their unique culture through the sport. Meanwhile, the event will be officiated by Minister of Works Baru Bian.
Baru and several state dignitaries as well as corporate figures from the Orang Ulu community will be competing in the tournament.
All eligible Orang Ulu golfers will vie for the men and ladies challenge trophies in this tournament, said in a press statement yesterday.
