KUCHING: A total of 120 youths from Asajaya constituency took part in the Youth Transformation Programme – Program Kawan Ku Sayang Keluarga Ku Kenang (KKSKKK).

Speaking during the closing ceremony, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Karim Rahman Hamzah said today’s youths must equip themselves with the relevant knowledge to ensure their future is bright.

He said human capital development is an important aspect of a country’s development because the young generation will one day take over the country’s leadership.

“Apart from acquiring knowledge, they must also have the ability to lead and protect the people.

“Hence, youths must be ambitious regardless of their background, and they must strive to change for the better,” said Karim during the closing ceremony of the programme held at the Ranchan Multipurpose hall, in Serian, yesterday.

He noted that the young generation must actively participate in some beneficial programmes for self improvement, especially those in higher learning institutes in order to gain more knowledge and experience.

“For this programme, I hope it has benefitted them and hopefully in turn, they can utilise the knowledge from this programme in their later life, and for the country as a whole,” said Karim.

The 3-day and 2-night programme was organised by Sabekas with the main objective of motivating and empowering the youths in Asajaya, and at the same time, creating awareness on the current social problems among youths.
