KUCHING: Muslims celebrate Maulidur Rasul each year by reciting their selawat to commemorate the sacrifices made by Prophet Muhammad in fighting for Islam.

The Petra Jaya Welfare Association (PKPJ) was not left behind in celebrating the birthday of Prophet Muhammad at Dewan Baitulmal here yesterday.

Present to grace the ceremony was the chief minister’s wife, Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang who was accompanied by state Mufti Datuk Kipli Yassin.

During the ceremony, PKPJ presented incentives to 121 children from Lembaga Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Sarawak (Peryatim).
