In line with State Disaster Management Committee’s directive, MDDMC said the swab tests were also conducted on licensed spa and reflexology centre workers as part of the SOPs before the centres were allowed to resume operation.

On the reopening of spas, wellness centres, foot massage and reflexology centres, the committee said out of 108 centres, 64 had applied for reopening.

“Out of these, those with complete SOP procedure compliance are 54.

“Eight applications are still pending upon the swab test results and SOP compliance results.

“Forty licensed reflexology centres are unable to open due to shortages of workers.

“Total number of licensed reflexology centres that had ceased operations is eight,” it added.

Meanwhile, the committee chairman Datuk Lee Kim Shin reminded members of the public to continue being vigilant and alert and to comply with the SOPs to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

“The committee expressed its appreciation and gratitude to all the medical personnel, frontliners and all those concerned for their dedication, commitment and perseverance in overcoming the complex Covid-19 challenges and the initial successes that we have achieved in Miri so far, namely in achieving the green zone status again.

“We must not be complacent. We can see the spikes and big increases in the number of positive cases in Sabah and Peninsular recently.

“This clearly reminds us the need for each and every one of us to be vigilant and to conform with the SOPs and cooperate with the relevant agencies in our fight against Covid-19 pandemic,” he added.
