13 compounded for non-compliance

KUCHING: Police issued 13 compounds to individuals for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in public places statewide on Saturday.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said, the police will continue to enforce the SOPs including the use of face masks and social distancing in public places.

“Kuching recorded the most compounds issued with seven, followed by Kota Samarahan with two recipients.

“One compound each was issued to errant individuals in Miri, Betong, Sarikei and Limbang,” the statement read.

On the inter-zone travel restriction in Simunjan and Sri Aman, police recorded 1,439 vehicles that have passed between zones (1 and 2) from Aug 8 to 9.

Of the total, 1,431 of them obtained travel permission while eight were ordered to turn back for not having a travel permission letter.

SDMC also reported that 1,670 premises had been monitored throughout the state. They comprise restaurants (446), supermarkets (141), banks (97), places of worship (79), public markets (79), government offices (67), hawker stalls (65), leisure places (34), construction sites (18), factories (11) and others (633).

Meanwhile the ‘Ops Benteng’ roadblocks continue to be conducted in five districts — Lundu (two) and one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu.
