13 TKD exponents from Sarawak for Asian meet

KUCHING: Thirteen Taekwando exponents from Sarawak are taking part in the five-day 2023 Asian Taekwondo Club Championships in Shenzhen, China, which started on August 11.

The team is lead by Grandmaster Tan Check Joon and coached by Purim Purintaphiban and Eimran Ghaffary Mohamad Daud, Sarawak Taekwondo Federation (STF) president Azizul Annuar Adenan said.

“Our unwavering goal has always been to provide promising young talents from Sarawak with a platform to flourish on the international stage.

“I hold every confidence that our athletes will excel in both the kyorugi and poomsae events at this esteemed Asian Taekwondo Championship.”

“I am certain that their exceptional performance will ignite a renewed vigour among our fellow members to intensify their training efforts, thus becoming eligible to represent the state in the upcoming 2024 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) to be held in Sararwak,”Azizul said.

Competing in the kyorugi event, are Clement Law Mien Mua, Leoston Kok Zi Yi, Jong Thian Fatt, Chai Soon Hian and Puteri Durratun Zulaikha Samat.

The poomsae event will feature Zara Nur Zafirah Mohd Yusof, Fedealis Kom Twin, Iris Nur Irdina Mohd Yusof, Awanis Maisara Mohamad Nor Arbi, Cinta Kirana Mohamad Nazid, Harry Daniel Hunter, Anuwath Sarat and Emerald Cole Willie.
