KUCHING: A total of 1,305 residents in Long Urun are expected to receive their first Covid-19 vaccine doses in a three-day vaccination drive.
Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon said the vaccine rollout was conducted by the Sungai Asap health clinic mobile vaccination team.
He said the outreach programme was held at the Long Urun rural service centre (RSC) starting from July 15 to July 18.
“I thank the mobile vaccination team from Sungai Asap and the Belaga District Disaster Management Committee who worked hard to implement a vaccination programme involving 14 Penan and Kenyah settlements in the Long Urun area.
“According to Sungai Asap health clinic medical officer Dr Yap Hung Wei, the mobile vaccination centre is expected to inoculate 1,305 residents with their first vaccine doses,” he said.
He said this in a Facebook post today following a recent visit to the mobile vaccination programme in Long Urun.
The assemblyman also thanked the residents for their positive response to the vaccine.
“Let us all pray that the vaccination programme for our community in the Long Urun area can be implemented smoothly and successfully,” he said.
Chukpai also thanked Urun Plantation for assisting the Sungai Asap health clinic by providing volunteers, auxiliary police and transportation for dwellers to go to RSC Long Urun for vaccination.
“Let’s all get the Covid-19 vaccine to curb the spread of the pandemic,” he said.
