BAU: The state government’s promise of building 2,500 houses under the Spektra Housing Project (RSP) within two years will soon come to fruition.

Local Government and Housing Assistant Minister Dr Annuar Rapaee told reporters here yesterday that the state government had already built 1,383 out of the 2,500 houses.

“In other words, we still have about 1,100 houses to build. The locations of these 1,100 houses have already been identified all over Sarawak,” he explained.

He added people had already started paying for the loans of the houses that had been completed and moved into them.

“Because this project is from 2019 to 2021, construction has to start now for it to be completed by next year,” he said.

After the launching of Bau District’s Spektra Housing here yesterday, Dr Annuar was pleased to see the initiative was well-received by the people here.

“The response is very good today. This means there is a lot of demand for RSP houses.

“Therefore, I think our ministry and Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep will discuss whether to build more RSP houses in Bau. It is not a promise but we will look into it,” he added.
