KUCHING: A total of 143 trainees from various agencies have completed a basic nine-week training course at Pulapol Kuching here in Jalan Puncak Borneo, yesterday.

The course participants comprised 127 male trainees and 16 female trainees who started their training on Nov 18, 2018 and ended on Jan, 19 2019.

The passing out parade was officiated by state Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) Special Branch Head SAC Mohamad Yusuf Sa’ee.

Yusuf in his speech said although there are differences in terms of name, role and scope of work, auxiliary police officers are not that different than the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

“An auxiliary police officer who carries out policing duties, has the same powers as regular police officers within their respective areas of responsibility,” he said.

He added that auxiliary police officers received basic training by PDRM in accordance with the modules set by the Bukit Aman PDRM training division.

“The objective of setting up police assistance is to provide police services to areas where police coverage is ineffective and under the administration and management of the Auxiliary Police Agency.

“Therefore, the auxiliary police officers’ contributions are very significant and they become the eyes and ears of PDRM in agencies involved in the prevention of crime and security control,” he said.
