KOTA SAMARAHAN: 145 drug addicts are currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) Samarahan Branch.

This was revealed by the Samarahan Resident, Brahim Lumpu when officiating the “Drug-Free Community” programme at Pohon Mas Resturant, Desa Ilmu, here, yesterday.

“For the Samarahan areas including Asajaya, Simunjan and others, a total of 304 drug addicts are undergoing the rehabilitation process.”

According to Brahim, Samarahan has the second largest number of drug addicts undergoing rehabilitation in the state after Kuching. In Kuching, there are 739 drug addicts undergoing rehabilitation.

“This is our concern because Samarahan and Kuching are near to each other,” said Brahim.

He reminded the public to monitor their children so that that they would be involved in drug abuse.

“Prevention must start at home. Drug abuse can harm the family institution,” he added.

The “Drug-Free Community” programme at Pohon Mas Resturant was organised by AADK Samarahan in collaboration with the restaurant.
