KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud yesterday presented state awards and medals to 148 recipients at the Dewan Besar, Astana Negeri in Petrajaya.
Heading the list of recipients were Assistant Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research Dr Annuar Rapaee, former State Secretary’s wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Saptuyah Suib, Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni and Kedup assemblyman Martin Ben who were awarded the Johan Bintang Sarawak (JBS).
The Johan Bintang Kenyalang (JBK) and Pingat Johan Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (JPC) both had two recipients.
Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi and businessman Pang Kim Soo received the JBK award, while Muhamad Yakup Kari and Abdul Kadir @ Kadir Zainuddin were awarded the JPC.
The Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (PPC) was awarded to Dr Azhar Ahmad, Dr Rashidah Bolhassan and Joseph Belayong Punan.

Four persons received the Pegawai Bintang Sarawak (PBS) while 13 received the Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang (PBK)
Pingat Perkhidmatan Bakti (PPB) and Ahli Bintang Sarawak (ABS) had 30 and 25 recipients respectively and there were 18 recipients of the Ahli Bintang Kenyalang (ABK).
The Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji (PPT) went to 26 recipients while 21 received the Bentara Bintang Sarawak (BBS).
Also present at the ceremony were Taib’s wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib, former deputy chief minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang and several local dignitaries.
