15 arrested for violating SOP

KUCHING: The owner of a karaoke lounge in Bintulu was arrested for not adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement on Saturday (Jan 2) said the police also arrested 14 foreign customers of whom two are Filipinos and 14 mainland Chinese.

It said the customers did not comply with the SOP by keeping a physical distance of one metre from each other.

The committee added 34 compounds were issued in Bintulu district and two in Kuching for violating the SOP.

The Ministry of Local Government and Housing has issued 49 verbal and written warning notices, with Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) issuing 22; Sibu Municipal Council (10); five each by Kuching City South Council (MBKS), Kuching North City Commission (DBKU), Lawas District Council; and one each by Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) and Serian District Council.
