KUCHING: A total of 15 drug abusers including two women were detained after they were tested positive by the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) on Friday.

An inter-agencies operation (road block) at KM18.5, Jalan Kuching- Serian which ran from 8pm to 11.30pm, saw the arrest of the said 15 individuals.

The urine test carried out during the road block.

Its state deputy director Winnie Lugit said all detainees were aged between 18 and 38.

“Of the 15 individuals detained, 14 tested positive for methamphetamine and another tested positive for marijuana,” he said in a statement.

The detainees will be investigated under Section 3(1) of the Drug Addicts, Treatment and Rehabilitation Act 1983 which, upon conviction, the detainees will be ordered to undergo treatment and rehabilitation for two years or under supervision over three years.

Agencies involved in the operation were the Road Transport Department (JPJ), police, Malaysia Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) and Environmental Department.
