SERIAN: Police arrested 15 persons including a woman suspected to be involved in drugs during a two-day One Stop Community integrated operation here.

District police chief DSP Aswandy Anis said the operations were carried out on Dec 8 and 9 to combat drug trafficking and addiction activities in the Serian district.

During the raids, policemen seized 10 plastic packets and four straw tubes, containing crystalline substances suspected to be methamphetamine weighing 7.26g with a market value of RM1,180.

All the suspects are locals, aged 19 to 34 years. They were brought to Serian NCID headquarters for further actions and all of them tested positive for drugs.

Aswandy said they are being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries a fine not exceeding RM100,000 or a jail term not exceeding five years or both.

He urged members of the public in Serian to work together with the police in efforts to curb drug trafficking and abuse in the district.

He noted that the number of drug cases in the district was on the rise, and hoped that the public would continue to provide information on drug related activities to the authorities.
