KAPIT: Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong presented grants amounting to RM69,000 to 15 Village Security and Development Committees (JKKKs) along Mujong river and its tributaries under his constituency.

He reminded the people to cooperate with the Bukit Mabong District Office and also the various longhouses within their locality.

“I received a lot of negative feedback that landowners refused to allow the construction of roads through their land to connect those longhouses further away from the main road,” he said.

“For instance, longhouse A is connected to the main road but how about longhouse B, C or D that are located behind longhouse A?

“They too also want to have road connectivity. Thus, if the landowners from longhouse A refused to allow the road construction to pass through their land, work cannot proceed.

“As a result, the project is delayed and the affected longhouses suffer. Please discard this negative mentality,” he stressed.

“I appeal to all landowners to fully cooperate with the Bukit Mabong District Office and sympathise with those who also want road connectivity.”

He added that road construction was the key to land development.

“With road development projects, NCR landowners could now open up land for economic activities and add value to their land.

“This is one of the many approaches by the government to develop the rural economy. Land development helps to increase income and one of the efforts to break away from poverty.

“Thus, I advise the longhouse folks to allow the government to build roads for the good of everybody so that all will benefit,” he said.
