SIBU: A father panicked after his 15-month-old son was trapped inside a locked car in front of a shop at Sibu Jaya last Saturday afternoon (Sept 18).
A spokesman from the Sarawak Fire Department operations centre sent a team to the scene after receiving a distress call around 4.50pm.
They arrived to find the toddler trapped inside the car which was locked from inside.
The firefighters tried to open the car door with an iron ruler and an iron rod but failed.
After that, the father asked the firefighters to break the car window with the iron rod in order to open the door. The method succeeded and after the door was opened, the firefighters handed over the boy to his father.
The firefighters went back to their station at 5.18pm after ensuring that the child was safe.
