KANGAR: QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd plans to open 15 new KFC restaurants throughout the country by the end of this year following the successful opening of 30 new outlets in 2019.

Managing director Datuk Seri Mohamed Azahari Mohamed Kamil said out of the total 15 restaurants, at least six outlets had been earmarked for drivethrough outlets.

“In opening the new restaurants, the company will collaborate with housing developers at a certain area because they (developers) believe that the presence of the KFC iconic brand would attract more residents to the area,” he told reporters after witnessing the launch of the first KFC Drive-Thru outlet in Perlis officiated by the Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail here, yesterday.

The new KFC drive-thru restaurant is also the sixth outlet in the state.

Also present were Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil and QSR Brands chairman Datuk Kamaruzzaman Abu Kassim. Mohamed Azahari said all KFC restaurants were equipped with electronic payment system facilities by using debit or credit cards as well as cashless payment via e-wallet.

He said the facilities would give a different experience to customers and facilitate those who want to order food at its 740 KFC outlets nationwide.

Earlier, Mohamed Azahari presented QSR Brands’s business zakat (tithe) amounting to RM60,729 to the Perlis Islam and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) chief executive officer Mohd Nazim Mohd Noor. – Bernama
