KUCHING: The three-day15th Triennial General Meeting (TGM) of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) from June 17-19 will be a very meaningful affair as the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition notched an overwhelming victory in last December’s 12th state polls.

“GPS won 76 of the 82 seats with PBB winning all the 47 seats we contested. On this occasion, I would like to congratulate all the PBB candidates.

“I would also like to say a thousand thanks to the election machinery and members of the party for the stylish and glorious GPS victory,” said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas in his message in the souvenir programme book for the TGM.

The PBB deputy president said the party’s Supreme Council had postponed the TGM which was supposed to be held in February 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“However, we are very fortunate this year as we are into the endemic phase transition and with the relaxed SOPs, the TGM can now be held,” he said.

Uggah said the state had been at war with the virus for two years, nevertheless with the cooperation and sacrifice of the people, Sarawak had successfully entered the transition to endemic phase.

“In preparation for the post-COVID era, GPS under the leadership of Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg had formulated a more comprehensive and orderly development strategy towards 2030.

“The goal of the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 is to develop Sarawak towards a developed region by 2030,” he said.

Citizens, therefore, should understand the PCDS policies and strategies so that they could play a role in its implementation.

“So, I hope that at this TGM, delegates can together contribute opinions and ideas on the best and most effective PCDS implementation strategies and models to ensure the stability, prosperity, and glory of Sarawak by 2030.

Uggah also appealed to PBB members to remain united and give their full support to Abang Johari as the PBB president.

“This is to ensure PBB will continue to be relevant and lead the Sarawak government,” he said.
