16 SOP flouters compounded

KUCHING: Police have issued a total of 16 compounds to errant individuals for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in public places.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said Kapit recorded the most compounds issued with seven, followed by five in Sibu, three in Bau and one in Betong.

Apart from that, the Ministry of Local Government issued 139 verbal, written, and seizure warnings in areas under the supervision of various local councils.

On the SOP compliance monitoring, patrol teams have inspected 1,291 premises throughout Sarawak.

These include 273 restaurants, supermarkets (154), banks (111), places of worship (55), public markets (55), government offices (42), leisure places (37), hawker stalls (31), construction sites (23), factories (11), and others (499).

Under Ops Benteng, a total of 966 vehicles were inspected through seven roadblocks in six districts – two in Lawas, and one each in Lundu, Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu.
