160 food baskets for NGOs

MIRI: Laku Management Sdn Bhd on Tuesday handed over 160 food baskets to four non-governmental organisations (NGOs) here as part of its Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) initiative.

The four NGOs, which received the assistance, were Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak (SIDS) Miri, the Federation of Orang Ulu Associations of Sarawak, (FORUM), Dayak Association Miri (DAM) and Methodist Iban Church, Miri. 

The food baskets were handed over by the secretary of the Ministry of Utilities, Prof. Datuk Ir Alice Jawan Empaling at the Methodist Iban Church, Miri.

The event was attended by the chairman of Laku Management Sdn Bhd, Datuk Nelson Balang Rining, chief executive officer of Laku Management Sdn Bhd, Daniel Punang, chief operation officer of Laku Management Sdn Bhd, Affendi Taher and officers from the Ministry of Utilities and Laku Management Sdn Bhd. 

Alice, who is also the chairman of SIDS, pointed out that the initiative by Laku, was to ease the burden of the people, especially families who had lost their incomes during the Covid-19 pandemic.

She also handed over assistance from SIDS to the Methodist Iban Church, Miri for its Frontliners Assistance Programme.
