KUCHING: A total of 161 graduates from i-Systems College’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) programme received their scrolls at the Islamic Information Centre (IIC) here on yesterday (Nov 9).

The convocation ceremony was officiated by Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng, representing Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.

In his address, Wee emphasised the importance of Early Childhood Education (ECE) in developing a child’s social and emotional skills as it entails various phases of emotional, biological, and psychological growth.

“With a Diploma in ECE, it will be easier for educators to guide children through their personal development as well as to nurture a caring, capable and responsible future.”

According to UNESCO, early childhood care and education (ECCE) is more than just preparation for primary school, it aims at the holistic development of a child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs in order to build a solid and broad foundation for lifelong learning and wellbeing.

Wee further expressed his belief that ECCE holds the potential to foster a compassionate, skilled, and responsible future.

“This is why MBKS is investing time and resources into Child Friendly City policies in conjunction with UNICEF. Their future is our future. The future holds many possibilities for our graduates today.

“They could be employed as kindergarten teachers, as Caregivers, as childcare workers or even as Childcare Centre Owners. Whatever direction they choose, they will hold the future of our society in their hands.”

Additionally, i-Systems College stands as the only private college in Sarawak that offers a fully accredited Diploma in Nursing, recognised by the Malaysian Qualification Agency, Nursing Board Malaysia, and the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.

The programme boasts a team of lecturers and clinical instructors with extensive nursing experience, ranging from 10 to 30 years from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and Kolej Sains Kesihatan Bersekutu (KSKB).

“Based on the current operational rate, the college has the capacity to train 300 nursing students per year.
