KUCHING: A total of 1,625 students in the Kuala Rajang constituency have benefitted from education assistances from the its local assemblyman’s service centre.

Urban Development and Natural Resources assistant minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh said to date, a total of RM680,200 have been distributed to SPM and STPM graduates since 2011.

“This is for them to further their studies (at the tertiary level) which students from the Degree programme will get RM500, Diploma RM400 and Certification RM300.

“Together we pray that they succeed in the field they are involved in and in turn produce more youths in Kuala Rajang who are of high quality, innovative and competitive,” he said in a Facebook post last Wednesday (Sept 22).

Earlier on Wednesday, Len was represented by his aide, Rohana Kiprawi who is a staff at the N.41 Kuala Rajang service centre to hand over financial assistance to the recipients.

He urged those who have received an offer to further their studies at public or private higher learning institutions in or outside the country and have not applied or received the assistance to do so.

“We do not set an application expiration date for children who are eligible to further their education whether it is a Degree, Diploma, Matriculation, Form 6 and Certificate,” he said.

Back in June, Len said those eligible for the assistance can send their application to the Kuala Rajang service centre by filling a form and attaching their documents.

“This initiative is one of my commitments to help excellent and less fortunate students to enrol in higher learning institutions as well as secure their future through education.

“Although the number is not much but this help is definitely a relief for students and their parents. I pray that our children in Kuala Rajang continue to excel and succeed in the field they are involved in,” he said.
