17 errant motorists issued summonses

MARUDI: Police issued 17 summonses during the last day of the Ops Selamat 18 today held in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

District police chief DSP Mohd Ruslan Mat Kib said five summonses were issued to motorcyclists whose machines were without side mirrors, three for registration plates that do not conform to specifications,  modified exhaust (three); brakeless motorcycles (two summonses), and one each for fancy plate number, and driving without a licence.

The Ops Selamat has been conducted at Jalan Beluru /Jalan Lapok and Jalan Long Lama.

During the 10-day operation which commenced on April 29 this year, motorists have been reminded to take precautions and drive safely.
