17 localities undergo EMCO

KUCHING: The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) declared that 17 localities were put under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO).

The committee said that of the total, three localities in Bintulu district namely Lee Global Workers Quarters; a rental room above MDS Freshmart Jalan Sebiew Shop; and Taman Jason had undergone EMCO from Aug 26 until Sept 9.

On Aug 27 to Sept 9, Kampung Serabang in Pusa; Rumah (Rh) James Drew, Kampung Nyelam and Rh Lani, Empelanjau Asal, Pantu both in Sri Aman district will undergo their EMCO.

On a similar date, Woodman Kuala Baram Estate Sdn Bhd, Kuala Baram in Miri district; and Rumah Jesus Robin Timboo, Sg. Gelasah, Suai in Subis district will also undergo EMCO but will end on Aug 10.

Three localities in Betong namely Rumah Manggat, Sg. Pelandok; Belianmas Synergy (TRC Betong) workers quarters; and Rumah Jembat, Ulu Dit, Debak will start their EMCO tomorrow (Aug 28) until Aug 10.

The SDMC also added that during a similar duration, the EMCO in Kampung Belimbing Besi & Kampung Lunying, Sebuyau and Kampung Kepayang Lama, Kampung Kepayang Berangan, Kampung Kepayang String & Kampung Kepayang Setia Jaya located in Simunjan district will be enforced.

In addition, three villages in Lundu namely Kpg Pasir Tengah; Kpg Sebako 1 & Sebako 2 ; and Kpg Sebiris as well as a longhouse, Rh Jelai Engkala Krian, in Saratok will also start their EMCO from Aug 28 onwards.

Along the line, the committee disclosed that the EMCO in Rh Tukang, Ensawang in Lubok Antu district will be extended to Sept 1 while Kampung Sg. Batu, Kota Samarahan in Samarahan district had finally ended its EMCO on Aug 27.

The SDMC also reported that Lubok Antu district is now red after recording 69 cases in the past 14 days.

To date, the state now has 26 red districts; five orange districts; seven yellow districts; and two green status districts.
