A report on the number of flood victims and evacuation centres.

KUCHING: A total of 171 flood victims have been moved to evacuation centres (PPS) as of Sunday (Jan 31).

A report by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) and Sarawak Civil Defence Force (APM) released today at 4pm said the centres are located in Serian and Simunjan districts.

There are three PPS in Serian with a total of 144 flood victims. They are Dewan Kampung Lintang Baru (84 victims), Dewan Kampung Betong Kanowit (22 victims) and Dewan Baru Kampung Rimba Padi (38 victims).

Meanwhile, the Dewan Masyarakat Lubok Buntin PPS in Simunjan holds 27 victims.

The number of flood victims remained the same as stated in both reports, released at 12pm and 4pm on Sunday, and this indicated that the flood situation has subsided.

However, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has recently issued a bad weather warning with thunderstorms and rain in Kuching, Samarahan, Sibu, Serian, Betong, Sri Aman, Sarikei, Kapit, Miri, Limbang, Mukah and Bintulu from Feb 1 to 6.
