18 win in various categories of Kuching Got Talent 2020

KUCHING: A total of 18 winners from here had won in the different categories of the ‘Kuching Got Talent 2020’ competition organised by Kuching North City Commission (DBKU). They beat 27 other participants out.

DBKU director Dr Morshidi Ahmad presented the prizes to them at DBKU Library seminar room in Majma Mall today.

The competition had three categories, namely, dance, magic and others.

For soloists in any of the categories, the champion received RM1,500 and a trophy; the first runner-up won RM1,000 and a trophy, and the third place winner received RM800 and a trophy.

As for duos and groups, the champion took home RM2,000 and a trophy while the first runner-up received RM1,500 and a trophy, and the third spot winner got RM1,000 and a trophy.

In the DBKU Friendly Neighbourhood duo/group category, the group Intruder Dance Crew and Modern Dance won the first and second spots respectively.

In the DBKU Friendly Neighbourhood solo category, Nurul’ain Abdullah Bolhassan and Muhd Zulhalimi Azyani Razuan won the first and second places respectively.

The solo dance category’s top winner was Derrek Bujang Dugat, while Samuel Tang and Faiz Shafwan Jeffrey won the second and third places respectively.

Lau Lick Cheng emerged as champion for the solo magic category, whereas Fabian Kenneth and Raymond Lai were in second and third places respectively.

For the Others Category (solo), Watson Meling, Atira Veneza Nelson and Joseph Cleopercy won first, second and third places respectively.

In the dance category (duo/group), Kasuma Tari emerged as the champion, followed by Jonas Brother in second place and Borneo Dancers in third place.

In the duo/group category, Persatuan Seni Silat Asli Zamrud was the champion, while Effendi and Syarifah were second.

Kuching Got Talent this year was held differently due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The participants submitted their entries online starting from Oct 14 to Nov 11.

The objective was to provide a platform for individuals to show their talents.

All entries were evaluated by a panel of judges appointed by DBKU.

Also present during the finals were DBKU acting deputy director Mohd Hafiz Ali; head of DBKU Library Division Seria Basir; Sarawak Cultural Village Dance trainer Martina Benedict Pal and representative from the State Cultural and Arts Department Razis Basir.
