According to the state Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, the Kapit Fire Station was informed of the incident after receiving a report from the Kapit District Police Headquarters at about 11.35am yesterday.

The incident is believed to have occurred at around 4.30pm, as a witness travelled to Nanga Pelagus with his grandfather Ngalang Demong and his uncle Richelles Seli Lasu to go fishing.
