KOTA SAMARAHAN: A total of 200 needy people from Samarahan received assistance in conjunction with Gawai and Hari Raya Aidilfitri festival through “Sejambak Kasih Hari Gawai dan Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2018” programme.
The presentation ceremony was graced by Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah at Dewan Masyarakat Kampung Muara Tuang, yesterday.
The objective of the programme is to lessen the burden of the recipients for the upcoming festive season. Each recipient received RM100 cash and hamper worth RM50.
“This is part of the State government initiative to assist the needy. There are numerous kind of assistance and we are glad that our government is concerned about our welfare,
“For the record, from January until March this year, State Community Welfare Department has spent more than RM52 million for 56,424 monthly recipients throughout Sarawak,” said Fatimah.
Meanwhile, Fatimah also urged the people in Samarahan to cast their vote during the polling day this coming 9th May.
