SIBU: A total of 200 participants have taken part in Program Keusahawanan Wanita Bangkit@ KPWKM organised by the Federal Women, Family and Community Development Ministry (KPWKM) here yesterday.

Its minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said incentives were given to women through the programme to start generating income with small capital in the field of e-commerce and small businesses.

“This is for those who are not included under the scheme in the Ministry of Entrepreneurship, TEKUN, and Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) because not all of them run the business daily (for side income).

“This programme also aims to empower the economy of the target group, especially women, by optimising the potential of individuals based on their skills so that they do not continue to depend entirely on government assistance,” she said in her speech when officiating at the programme.

The Santubong MP, who hopes more women will participate in such a programme, said that up to December 2022, a total of 14,770 women have benefited through this programme and most of them are those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the event, she also urged the women to seize the opportunity to have a cervical cancer health screening at the Sibu National Population and Family Development Board, which is much cheaper than other places.

“This check-up is important for everyone’s health. Therefore, I call on women to get screened to ensure their health is maintained,” she stressed.
