KUCHING: A total of 203 vouchers for the purpose of purchasing school uniforms were doled out to seven schools in the Kuala Rajang constituency.
Urban Development and Natural Resources assistant minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh said among the schools involved were SMK Belawai, SK Abang Gesa, SK Abang Buyuk, SK Abang Galau, SK Tanjung Manis, SK Stalon and SK Bayang.
“A total of 203 vouchers amounting to RM40,600 were distributed to seven schools in Kuala Rajang.
“The voucher assistance worth RM200 each is for the purpose of purchasing school uniforms for underprivileged students,” he said in a Facebook post today (Aug 19).
Recently, he presented the school uniform vouchers when officiating at the handing over of residential lots in Kampung Rajang at its community hall.
Len said the initiative to equip the schoolchildren with proper uniforms was jointly organised with the Sarawak Foundation.
“We hope that more parties will collaborate together with us to help the local community, especially during this Covid-19 pandemic.
“On this occasion, I would also like to thank the GPS government and the Sarawak Foundation for the annual programme.
“I hope the assistance will benefit the recipients as well as possible in accordance with its objectives,” he said.
