SIBU: Twenty-one errant individuals including two stall operators at a smoke house (rumah asap) were compounded after they failed to comply  with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) on social distancing during the recovery movement control order (RMCO) period  here.

District deputy police chief Supt Collin Babat said each offender was issued a compound of RM1,000 each under Regulation 3 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Area) (No.7) 2020, following an inspection at te smoke house in Sibu Jaya at 8.45pm.

Collin, who headed the inspection, said the two stall operators failed to adhere to the SOPs on social distancing for their respective dine-in customers.

Besides the stall operators, 19 customers — eight men and 13 women —were taken to the district headquarters to be compounded.

“We only issued summonses to the stall operators. Next time, if they’re stubborn, we’ll order the premises to close,” he said when contacted yesterday.
