BAU: Police here arrested a young lad for alleged involvement in selling online gambling top-ups in an eatery along Jalan Bau-Kuching, Industrial Shop yesterday.
Bau OCPD DSP Poge Nyaon said the ‘Op Dadu Khas’ raid was carried out by the district’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) around 1.45pm.
“The team spotted the suspect and detained him as he was believed to be involved in online gambling sales activity.
“Also seized are the suspect’s phone and a SIM card,” he said.
The 21-year-old suspect who did not have any past record, was taken to the police station along with the seized items.
Poge said the case is being investigated under Section 4(1)(c) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953, which carries for a fine up to RM50,000 or a jail term up to three years, if convicted.
