KUCHING: A total of 214 unlicensed hawkers and petty traders in the Nangka constituency registered for assistance under the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance (BKSS) package.
Education, Science and Technological Research Assistant Minister Dr Annuar Rapaee said the registrations were done in the last four days by a designated team.
“For the assistance of RM1,500 under BKSS, I have formed a team to help register the unlicensed traders. They, too, are affected by the movement control order (MCO).
“They need to register with Sarawak Pay and use it to spend the money with. The aid is paid in two phases — in July and in November.
“I thank the team for being able to register about 214 unlicensed hawkers and traders in the Nangka constituency,” he said in a livestream on Saturday (June 12).
Dr Annuar hoped that the registered traders would soon receive their assistance.
“So in total, the 214 traders will be getting RM321,000 in BKSS,” he said.
Meanwhile on the distribution of food supply assistance in Sibu, Dr Annuar said about 32,481 households were eligible for the aid.
Of the total, 9,000 were in Nangka, Pelawan (3,571), Bawang Assan (5,423), Dudong (9,487) and Bukit Assek (5,000).
“To date, we have rolled out 100 percent food aid for Bawang Assan, Pelawan and Nangka while in Bukit Assek, the distribution is at 76 percent and in Dudong, 92 percent.
“I wish to remind all that if they come across eligible households who might be left out of the food supply assistance, do inform us, we will try to help.
“They can also inform the community leaders, their Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) branch, the village security and development committee (JKKK), the Resident’s office or the Welfare Department,” he said.
