21,500 face masks from Yunan govt

KUCHING: The Yunan Provincial Government, China has donated a total of 21,500 face masks to Sarawak as a symbol of support to the state in battling the Covid-19 pandemic.

Of the total, 1,500 of them were N95-type face masks while 20,000 were surgical masks.

The face masks arrived in Kuching on Wednesday (July 15) and were given to Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

SDMC chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian were present to check the items at the Old State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building here on Thursday (July 16).

In a related development, the Sarawak Health Department has advised individuals placed under home surveillance to continue staying at home throughout the monitoring period.

They were reminded to limit the number and keep record of visitors into their homes and the same time practising social distancing, wearing face masks and practising good etiquette of coughing. These individuals must also avoid sharing of eating utensils and toiletries.
