MIRI: The Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Miri District has organised 22 blood drives since March 25.

Out of the 524 people who have registered to be a blood donor, 489 have successfully donated their blood.

“We would like the public to carry on coming over for the next few weeks … because we need to build up blood supplies over this Ramadan and Hari Raya phases, as well as the upcoming Gawai break,” said MRC Miri District publicity officer Cr Karambir Singh in a statement released yesterday.

He added that MRC Miri District would like to invite new blood donors to come forward.

“On behalf of MRC, I would like to thank all the blood donors who have come forward,” he said.

Singh also thanked Miri Hospital’s staff as well as volunteers of the MRC Blood Donors Recruitment Committee for organising the ongoing blood drives.

MRC is open on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 8.30am to 1pm, except Friday (May 22) and close on Sunday (May 24) for Hari Raya. For more details, contact Karambir Singh at 016-8785500.
