KUALA LUMPUR: Thousands of Malaysians have responded to Guardian Malaysia’s campaign to help the needy, with a total of 9,500 bottles of hand sanitiser — including 4,477 bottles donated by its customers — distributed to 22 identified charity homes and organisations nationwide.

Through Guardian’s earlier campaign, customers who spent RM40 and above received a complimentary bottle of hand sanitiser which they could donate to a charity home or organisation in various states selected by Guardian.

Some customers even purchased more hand sanitisers to donate to the homes.

Anna Ng, brand marketing director, health and beauty (South East Asia), said the generosity of their customers towards their fellow Malaysians was clearly shown through this campaign.

“It was only for one week, but the response was really enthusiastic. Such kind-hearted support for those in need is really heart-warming, especially during these challenging times where the third wave of the pandemic has increased the need for greater safety,” she said.

She said this campaign is a way of helping to ensure that their customers as well as the underprivileged had effective hand sanitisers to maintain personal hygiene.

Among the 22 charity homes and organisations from all over Malaysia that have benefitted from this campaign are Hope Place, Kuching; Lighthouse Children Welfare Home Association, Kuala Lumpur; Bukit Harapan, Kota Kinabalu; Silver Jubilee Home for the Aged, Penang; The Salvation Army Children’s Home, Kuching; and others.
