KUCHING: Response towards the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation’s (SEDC’s) Ramadan Bazaar 2019 at Level 1 and 2 of UTC Kuching, Jalan Bukit Mata here is encouraging with 22 stalls selling various local delicacies and other items having been set up for convenience of the public.
Organised by SEDC, the bazaar will be held throughout Ramadan with the operating hours set from 11am to 4.30pm.
The opening ceremony of the bazaar was recently performed by SEDC Sarawak general manager Abdul Hadi Datuk Abdul Kadir officiated at the launch of the bazaar recently. He was accompanied by his deputy Edwin Abit and other senior officers.
According to Abdul Hadi, the bazaar is an annual programme to celebrate month of Ramadan and to provide opportunities for the local business community to generate additional income during the festive seasons.
This year’s bazaar sees a variety of food items on sale for fast-breaking and also offers various products for the upcoming Hari Gawai and Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
He said the opening of the bazaar will also facilitate workers and the general public to buy food for fast-breaking and the event can also help foster a sense of unity and understanding among the local community.
In addition to boosting visitors’ arrival to UTC Kuching, the bazaar is also aimed to promote a wide range of local products in conjunction with the month of Ramadan, the coming Gawai Day and Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
