22 teams vie for CP’s Cup

MIRI: Twenty-two teams will compete for Sarawak Police Commissioner’s Cup in a football tournament to be held in Kuching from October 28 to November 3.

This year’s tournament host is IPD Kota Samarahan.

Miri District Deputy police chief  Supt Sabri Zainol who bade farewell to IPD Miri team yesterday  reminded his men to uphold the sporting spirit.

“Winning or losing is secondary but taking part in the true spirit of sportsmanship is of paramount importance,”he said.

The IPD Miri team led by Inspector Fredly Juing will leave Kuching by road today.

The teams taking part in the seven-day tournament are IPD Miri, IPD Limbang/Lawas, IPD Kota Samarahan, IPD Lundu/Bau, IPD Song/Kanowit, IPD Kapit,/IPD Belaga,IPD Sarikei/Julau, IPD Bintulu /Tatau, IPD Marudi, IPD Mukah/Dalat/Matu Daro,IPD Saratok/Meradong/IPD Seroan/Simunjan/ Padawan ,IPD Sri Aman/Lubok Antu, OPD betong , IPD Sibu and IPD kuching

“In 2015, IPD Miri went as far as the last eight and I hope this year they will perform much better,” said Supt Sabri.
