23 fined for violating SOPs

KUCHING: Twenty-three individuals were slapped with a RM1,000 compound each for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and being at an entertainment centre beyond the allotted time on Saturday.

An enforcement team comprising personnel from Padawan Traffic Police and police district headquarters (IPD) Task Force raided a premises at Batu Kawa New Township, Jalan Batu Kawa around 10.30pm on Saturday.

Padawan police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said when the team arrived, they found 16 men and seven women enjoying themselves.

All of them, consisting premises owner, keeper and patrons were found violating the conditional movement control order (CMCO) SOPs such as failing to wear face mask, staying in an entertainment centre beyond the allotted time and operating the premises beyond the set time (10pm).

He added that the individuals, aged between 18 and 66, were later taken to the police station for further action.

They were each issued compounds under Regulation 14 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2021.

The offenders were given a 14-day period to settle the fine at the Kuching Division Health Office.
